Last night was the second annual Goodwill Monocacy Valley's SECOND RUNWAY show at the beautiful New Spire Stages in downtown Frederick, Maryland.
I had the pleasure of being a part of the event as a stylist for a second year in a row and was honored to have two of our Curves Ahead ambassadors participate as models. Our girls, Mia Jackson and Brittany Whiteside, certainly worked the runway in their outfits all while representing plus size inclusion and body positivity.
This year's theme of the event, the golden gala, celebrated Goodwill's 50 years of service to Frederick and Carroll Counties in "creating hope, jobs, and futures in our community" - and they certainly have. The work that their team does and gets involved in goes way beyond thrift hunting. Goodwill transforms donations into jobs and job training for thousands in our area each year. One of their most recent projects is to raise funds for a new veteran services program and relocation of their workforce development center.
The event was truly incredible, we all enjoyed gourmet food, spirits, music while mingling with other local businesses. They also featured an on-site Goodwill Pop Up Shop, where you could actually shop the racks from each stylist and purchase runaway looks while you were there - which I thought was an amazing touch. Designer finds were flying out the door at amazing prices!
I have to give a huge shout-out to my friends Kacey Trent and Lindsey Swink for the amazing job they did last night. I know first-hand just how much work these type of events are. These two pull it off with so much style and grace - congrats ladies. Thank you both for allowing Curves Ahead to be a part of this show again, it means the world to me and the entire tribe.
If you're experiencing major FOMO, never fear - this event is annual! So mark your calendars for next spring (Kacey & Lindsey...take a deep breath).
